'ART BASIL'
Katie Channon came up with the brilliant idea of an art exhibition here on Mustique to raise money for the Covid SVG fund. What better venue than Basil's Bar and what better name than ART BASIL!
Anyone and Everyone who wanted took part in this, The First 'ART BASIL' on Mustique.
Even those not actually here on-island were able to participate, and artworks from Marc Quinn, Alex Beard and Ali Hilfiger, to children's paintings, island jewellery and even tie-dye T-shirts, were donated. Everything, Yes Everything, sold.
It was a resounding success and raised US$30,000 and still counting. We are hoping this will become a yearly event, fundraising for great causes in the future.
The most exciting part was seeing works donated by island friends we have all lived alongside for years, coming out of the woodwork with fantastic paintings, and we never knew they even liked to paint.
