Our Interview with Jen Wade

Our interview with Jen was such fun! Here's how it went:

Launching Your New Website

PH: How exciting that you have launched your new website! It looks fabulous! We are so lucky to ask a few questions about your collections and your relationship with Lotty and Mustique.

JW: I first came to Mustique in 2012 with my boyfriend and married him 4 days later at Toucan Hill, one of the most magical villas on Mustique. The love affair remains to this day with both.

Meeting Lotty B

PH: How did you and Lotty meet?

JW: When I initially came to Mustique, one of the first places I visited was The Pink House. I was amazed by the magical pieces and treasures, and then I met Lotty—the exceptional artist and designer behind the vision. We’ve been friends ever since.

Photoshoots

PH: We have some fabulous photographs of you wearing Lotty B—can you tell us how these photoshoots came about?

JW: The first photoshoot was in 2015 during a 3-month stay in Mustique. Lotty asked if I would model some pieces, and I was honoured. Every visit since, we’ve done another shoot. One shoot was with the legendary Bryan Adams—so much fun and a real honour!

My favourite shoot was earlier this year, with Diamond (the puppy) at Villa Zahara, photographed by the talented Jamie Lucas.

Nickname “Fish”

PH: We love your nickname "Fish"! Was it from Wanda?

JW: I’ve been swimming all my life. When John saw me in the pool for the first time, the nickname “Fish” was born. People now call me Fish, sometimes Naughty Fish or Little Fish. I love it—it’s so cute.

Passion for Jewellery

PH: Thinking of your gorgeous jewellery designs, when did your passion for jewellery emerge?

JW: The first piece I received was a charm bracelet from Tiffany & Co from my Dad. I fell in love with the design and simplicity.

PH: What was your first piece?

JW: The first piece was the "Catch a Falling Star" pendant.

Inspiration from Nature

PH: Your collections are inspired by nature. Is there a particular location or event that sparked this?

JW: I grew up abroad in South Africa, New Zealand, and Spain. The landscapes, terrain, and wildlife filled me with inspiration.

Animal Lover

PH: You are obviously an animal lover. Is this from childhood?

JW: 100%! I was five when I first held a lion cub, and I’ve always had cats or dogs. I love animals—it’s an absolute love affair. That’s why I’m an ambassador for The Tusk Trust, protecting Africa’s endangered wildlife.

Pause for Pets Collection

PH: Can you tell us about your Maine Coon Teddy Bear who inspired your Pause for Pets collection?

JW: Teddy Bear was my best friend—sensitive, regal, and beautiful. When he died, I created the Pause for Pets Collection, basing the pendant on his paw. Click here for the full story.

Recent Inspiration

PH: What has inspired you recently?

JW: I just returned from Marrakesh. The colours, textures, heat, and the place I stayed were incredible. Travel always inspires me.

Upcoming Projects

PH: Is there something in the pipeline that you can tell us about?

JW: As of 6th November, Jennifer Wade Jewellery has launched at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, Hyde Park. The collection can be viewed in the hotel.
