We were flattered to be asked to collaborate with luxury holiday company, Sanfelino. Based close to our island home in the Caribbean: Sanfelino is a Cartagena-based concierge travel agency specialising in bespoke holidays and curated experiences.

PH: Please do tell us about the background to this business?
SF: Founded by Marco, a local with deep roots and connections throughout the city, Sanfelino offers a true insider’s perspective on Cartagena’s rich culture, from its music and art to its colonial architecture and hidden gems.
PH: What sets Sanfelino apart from your competitors?
SF: In simple terms, we have access to exclusive experiences that go beyond the typical itinerary, for example a sunset cruise that drops you off at a restaurant overlooking the bay, or personalised meetings with local artists and chefs who bring the city’s creative spirit to life, or even renting an island house with a private tennis court.
PH: What would you say are Sanfelino's core values?
SF: Sanfelino's values are rooted in Marco’s Spanish and Italian family heritage, a passion for hospitality, attention to detail, and the belief that every traveller is unique.
PH: We are lucky to have met you through our personal connections, but were very pleased to be invited to collaborate with you on this shoot! How did you think this would work for Sanfelino?
SF: Firstly, we share inspiration from the Caribbean and since Cartagena is the Colombian Caribbean centre, the partnership just made sense.
With this collaboration, we want to shine a light on a more unique side of Cartagena, one that’s about family holidays, private beachside houses and a slower, more intentional kind of luxury.

We asked the Sanfelino team to tell us about the shoot and it sounded fabulous!
PH: Where did this shoot take place? It looks amazing!
SF: The photo shoot took place aboard a private speedboat from Bocagrande, Cartagena, to the Rosario Islands, a 45-minute ride to a stunning archipelago of 28 Caribbean islands.

Along the way, the boat stopped at a mangrove area where the family fed raccoons bananas, showcasing a fun and authentic interaction with Colombian wildlife.

The crew then stopped at PA’UE Beach Club to capture drone shots of the family enjoying the crystal-clear water before continuing to Barú, where a beachside picnic awaited.
Styled in Sanfelino’s colors with an Italian Amalfi twist, the picnic featured branded props like coconuts and a surfboard. The shoot concluded at a private beach house, Casamare, where we captured relaxed lifestyle moments, morning coffee on the balcony and a traditional island lunch of fried mojarra, coconut rice, and plantains.

PH: Your models are so natural, something we strive to achieve by asking our island family to model for us on Mustique. But is it true that one of them is something of a star?
SF: Natalia Navarro, photographed above won the National Beauty contest in 2009, becoming Miss Colombia and represented Colombia in 2010, running for Miss Universe. She is now married with her children featured above and doesn't usually model for a career!
PH: What fun things happened on the day?
SF: We have an inflatable sea pool that we can blow up and throw in the water from the boat, so the kids can float more easily without being dragged away by the currents.
Tatiana had a fun day trying to coordinate everyone so that we did everything on time and on schedule!
