Around 30 years ago the Amazona Guildingii, the Vincy Parrot, was in danger of becoming extinct. During independence celebrations in 1979 this parrot was announced the National Bird of St Vincent and the Grenadines.

When Sir James Mitchell was Prime Minister he often visited Mustique and would encourage Lotty's children to throw their fruit seeds through the undergrowth in the hopes that fruit trees would grow in the wild to support the introduction of the Parrots to Mustique.  

However, the rainfall and soil of Mustique are not as prolific and rich as in the St. Vincent Rainforest and, to date, his hopes have not been realised.


However, this print, imagined and created by Lotty, works beautifully on her designs and was born of a love and respect of these vulnerable birds.
