We asked Lotty for the story behind our latest print MONKEY AND PALMS and she delighted us with this wonderful tale:

“I first included a monkey in my designs when working on a commissioned scarf from the Sandy Lane Hotel in Barbados.

There they have the Green Monkey which was originally brought over from West Africa as a pet about 300 years ago with the slave trade.

Having spent several years of my childhood in Africa where the cheeky little monkeys would streak down the trees and steal our fruit from the breakfast table, I've always had a soft spot for these funny little creatures.  With my own children growing up on the island of Mustique I was slightly jealous of Barbados with its monkeys, even though I knew our local population of land tortoises was a far less destructive and equally beguiling creature."

"I included a Monkey print in a linen and swim collection about 10 years ago, and this year I decided it was time to bring it back, however I chose a little addition of palms to create a prettier and more whimsical finish.  I hope you like it!”
