The Pink House shop on Mustique

> THE PINK HOUSE <

Lotty's iconic gingerbread-style boutique is nestled among the palm trees on the Caribbean Island of Mustique. Along with Basil's Bar, it must be the most photographed building on the island. The Pink House boutique is a treasure trove of Mustique must-haves, carefully chosen designer items and our very own much sought-after Pink House and Lotty B labels.

> THE LIFE <

Lotty says: "Mustique has been my home since 1993 when my husband took up the post of island doctor. Inspired by the island’s wealth of flora and fauna, I spent the next few years designing and hand-painting silk sarongs whilst bringing up our children, barefoot and fancy-free."

Lotty B started off designing and selling sarongs which then evolved into kaftans. She eventually created a resort-wear collection for women named 'Lotty B - Mustique'. In 2008, she took over a small shop and expanded it further. Already having an established collection of silk and linen resort wear for women, she added linen printed shirts and swim shorts for men under the label 'Pink House Mustique'. The label has grown in popularity and all her collections are sold globally through their wholesale network and website.

Lotty continues: "Nearly 30 years on, I am still using Mustique as my muse and nearly everything I design is inspired by this little island. Local seamstresses and artisans from neighbouring islands make as much as possible for the Pink House boutique but an increase in worldwide demand has moved our main production to China where silk screen printing is an absolute metier and the attention to detail is extraordinary. Small production runs of Limited Edition Lotty B garments are also made in the UK, alongside all our packaging which is sustainable including our new gift boxes which are made near our UK HQ in Cornwall."

A note about the Pink House would not be complete without a mention of Yuoca and Patchace, the life and soul of the shop here on Mustique, day in, day out, looking after the Pink House as if it were a much-loved child. Alongside our island labels, we stock creations from a range of talented designers. We loved that Mariella Frostrup wrote in the Daily Telegraph that we are the suppliers of "....the island uniform of exquisite beachwear..."!

If you haven’t yet stepped inside and experienced the unique atmosphere for yourself, you have a treat waiting in store. We look forward to welcoming you.

Message for Helen Griffiths: Dear Helen, how lovely to hear about your trip to Mustique and your great purchases from Pink House! Wonderful to hear this feedback. We thought you might be interested to learn that we have some of our new prints in the Sustainable Store, 320 Kings Road, Chelsea SW3 5UH. Currently they are operating a “click and collect” system, but also offering personal appointments. You can contact William or Isabella at: info@sustainablestorelondon.com. We are all very much hoping that they will be open again in early December, if Government Guidelines allow it. With our very best wishes, The Pink House Team

I have always loved the vibrant colorful designs and now have quite a collection of the men’s bathing suits, many of which I have been lucky enough to acquire at the shop personally over the years.
Hopefully Cat Pollon and I will be down again soon, having not seen you since that delightful dinner party at Toucan Hill.
